For this year’s holiday tablescape, I wanted to do something unique and different. It’s our first Christmas in our new home, and I love the vintage touches and old school charm of this house.
I ended up finding the perfect colorful, vintage-inspired runner from Anthropologie and this beautiful tablescape idea began! If you’re craving a colorful yet nostalgic holiday season this year, read below on how I brought that to life in my home.
Colorful Vintage Holiday Tablescape
Think Thrifted
One of the easiest ways to achieve a vintage look for your tablescape is of course to shop vintage! Thrift stores are one of the best places to go for glassware, plates, linens, etc. I was able to score some beautiful vases and candlestick holders at my local secondhand store.
My husband, who knows me well, found some stunning vintage plates at an estate sale for me.
Vintage-Inspired Touches
It’s not always possible to find actual vintage items that align with the theme or vision you’re looking for, but luckily there are many vintage-inspired pieces that you can incorporate for the same feel! I love Anthropologie’s holiday collection this year.
Unfortunately the table runner is sold out- but many of the items from the collection are still available. I added these beautiful wine glasses from Amazon and some colored glass vases. I find that mismatched pieces in eclectic colors bring the kitschy vintage feel together.
Color scheme
When putting together a tablescape, color scheme is very important. I started with a neutral cream colored linen to really let my decor pop. My theme this year was colorful, but it’s important to focus on a few key colors to avoid looking too overwhelming.
I chose to go with blue and greens, with pops of darker red and pink! If you’re having trouble with your color scheme, look at items that you’ve gravitated towards and try to choose key colors from those elements.
DIY Florals
You guys know I love a good floral arrangement, and this tablescape is no different. I decided to put together a variety of smaller arrangements to line the table, rather than one large centerpiece. This is also a great idea to keep the florals simple and easier to create.
When doing this, you’ll want to choose vases of varying heights and sizes to keep it pleasing to the eye. For more eclectic themes, I love using non-traditional florals like these beautiful pieces of white kale that I found at Trader Joe’s.
Remember to start with a base of greenery and add key colors from your color scheme to tie everything together!
I hope these tips help you bring a beautiful tablescape together for the holidays! If you’re looking for something more simple, yet still colorful for the holidays, check out last year’s tablescape here.
