Our family travelogue continues in Fairmont Vancouver Canada for the holidays
Vancouver BC Canada Hotels
We recently traveled to Seattle for Thanksgiving break to spend time with my parents and decided to spend a few days in Downtown Vancouver Canada. Vancouver takes about 3 hours from Downtown Seattle and it’s fairly easy to pass through the border as long as everyone has a passport.
Downtown Vancouver is a lively and cosmopolitan city on the West Coast of Canada. It’s a city packed with various tourist attractions, shopping and plenty of multicultural dining options. This was our second time visiting the city and this time we stayed at Fairmont Vancouver which is centrally located just minutes way from Vancouver’s biggest attractions such as Granville lsland, Robson street, Stanley Park Seawall, Vancouver Aquarium, Gastown, Canada Place and Science World.
We chose Fairmont Hotel Vancouver because of its old historic charm, luxury amenities, central location and family friendly accommodations. Fairmont Vancouver is also a recipient of a 2019 Forbes Travel Guide “Four Star” rating and TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. It’s known as the “Castle In The City” and reflects timeless luxury and history of Vancouver.
Fairmont Vancouver is the center of luxury shopping in Vancouver, with stores like Dior and Gucci that’s conveniently located in the same building.
Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Canada Lobby
Traveling is extra special this time of the year because of all the holiday decorations. I love seeing hotel lobbies decked out with Christmas trees, twinkling lights and feeling the holiday magic in the air.
Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Family Friendly Junior Suite
As frequent travelers, we know what to look for in a family-friendly hotel. Most hotels claim to be “family friendly” but often lack the extra amenities that make the stay memorable for the kids. Fairmont Vancouver is truly welcoming and family friendly in that they take the extra steps to make each kid feel special. Each child was welcomed with a gift and the family robe set included all sizes including for my tween daughters and 3-year old boy. They even provided child sized room slippers and a scavenger hunt for kids!
My 3-year old son was delighted when he saw his own Little Prince tent provided by the hotel. He loved it so much he played in it all day and even slept in it at night time!
Room Amenities
The junior suite was comfortable enough for my family of 5 and all the amenities were luxurious and family-friendly. The room had a cozy and warm inviting feel and we had a comfortable and relaxing two day stay.
Nutcracker Afternoon Tea at Notch 8 Restaurant
The highlight of our Fairmont Hotel Vancouver stay was their Nutcracker Afternoon Tea at Notch 8 Restaurant. For the month of December, the restaurant decorates the room into a Christmas nutcracker themed wonderland and serves afternoon tea that is perfect for the whole family. The holiday themed treats and desserts were delicious and the tea was fragrant and wonderful.

Overall we spent a wonderful 3 days in Downtown Vancouver. We shopped, walked around the city, and went to Granville Market Place. We watched the beautiful sunset at Stanley Park and ate a lot of delicious food. Weather was chilly but sunny and we really got into the holiday spirit while we were there. So I would highly recommend Fairmont Vancouver to any families traveling that way. It’s a must visit destination for everyone!
