Mocktails With Our Mom Tribe

Being a mom means sacrificing my social life for the needs of the family. I can’t remember the last time I had a girl’s night out or hosted a gathering in my home for myself. I’m usually so busy planning birthday parties and playdates for the kids that I never plan anything for myself and friends.

Thanks to Ocean Spray®, I had an opportunity to get together with my favorite mom friends in my home. Many of us are in various mom groups and networks together and engage with each other on a regular basis via social media. Even though most of our daily interactions take place online due to busy life and kids, it’s always a treat to get together in real life and connect on a deeper level.

It’s been 12 years since I became a mother and the more I spend my time as a mom the more I realize the importance of finding your mom tribe. I know these phrases are thrown around loosely but finding your tribe is crucial in finding balance, connection and fun while raising children and fulfilling the roles of a mother and wife.

What is a mom tribe?

A mom tribe is a village of other women who share your struggles as well celebrate the joys of motherhood. A mom tribe should be based on mutual respect, openness and empathy, and not take the form of judgement and criticism. At the end of the meeting, we should feel recharged and revitalized, ready to go back to our families and tackle motherhood with gratitude and joy. It should never leave us feeling belittled or misunderstood.

Thanks to Ocean Spray® who co-hosted this event with its delicious new drinks, we got to enjoy an intimate get together and share our stories of motherhood over mocktails. We talked about post-baby bodies, disciplining and sleep training our kids, and how to achieve a good balance between motherhood and work.

As mothers who are so accustomed to giving and sacrificing for others with little time and room left for ourselves, it’s nice to be understood as well as to understand.

And as always, it was therapeutic to get together with like-minded mothers and openly discuss our parenting victories as well as parenting fails.

We served our mocktails over floral ice created by my talented and creative daughter. It turned out great and was perfect for a summer get together.

How To Make Floral Ice Cubes

To make, you simply place flowers in the ice cube tray and pour water. To make it clear, be sure to use boiled water after it cools.

These mocktails contain no alcohol so they’re great for pregnant and nursing mamas, as well as kids! I love the versatility of these mocktails as you can turn any bottle into a variety of different drinks with and without alcohol.

We especially loved ours with sparkling water and champagne.

Tropical Decor From Oriental Trading

To create the perfect tropical setting for this Ocean Spray® Mocktails party, I gathered some of my favorite tropical decorative items from Oriental Trading.

I mixed vibrant colors with tropical items such as pineapple cups and flamingo straws. It created the perfect backdrop for these delicious tropical mocktails in three different flavors: Cranberry Peach Bellini | Cranberry Sangria | Tropical Citrus Paradise.

As busy mothers, it’s imperative to take some time for ourselves and connect with other mothers. This naturally builds a tribe that can support, encourage and understand you. You can do this with old friends, new friends, co-workers, or even mothers you meet at the neighborhood park or kids’ schools.
